Hayfield senior Drew Streightff is playing big for Hayfield.
Streightiff put up a career-best point total for the second straight game as he helped the Vikings beat Rochester Lourdes (14-11 overall, 10-7 HVL) 59-55 in Hayfield Thursday.
Streightiff finished with 28 points in what was the last game of the regular season for Hayfield (20-5 overall, 13-4 HVL).
“We know he’s a capable scorer and he’s playing with a lot of confidence right now,” Hayfield head coach Chris Pack said of Streightiff. “He’s taking the ball to the rack strong and fearless. He’s such a great athlete and he gives us a legitimate third scorer.”
The Vikings are currently tied with Kasson-Mantorville for second place in the HVL Gold. If Byron falls to La Crescent on Friday, then the HVL Gold will end up in a three-way tie for first place.
The Vikings will open tournament play next Thursday.
