The YMCA Angels gymnastics program recently wrapped up another successful season.
The Angels team finished in first place at the MAGA state meet and the Halos placed second in the MAGA state meet.
The Angels overcame the loss of a couple of their gymnasts to the Packer varsity squad to finish strong.
“They worked together and the kids are taking care of their skill levels,” YMCA gymnastics director Guy Knepper said. “Winning the state meet was a bonus.”
The Halos team missed out on first place by just a tenth of a point.
“It’s been a pretty neat year,” Knepper said. “I’m ecstatic to see where next year goes for all of our teams.”
Kelsey Hackenmiller had a strong showing for the Guardians as she finished first in all-around and first in all four events in the team meet. At the state individual meet, she took fifth in all-around, fourth on beam, fifth on bars and sixth on vault and floor.
Samantha Sheldon was solid in the team meet as she placed first in all-around, first in beam, second on floor, fourth on vault and fifth on bars. In the individual meet, she placed 13th on beam.
Elyse Hebrink took second on floor at the state individual meet and she took sixth in all-around, 10th in vault and 14th on bars.
Jordan DeLaMater took second place in bars at the team meet and at individuals, she took ninth in all-around and seventh in bars.
Kameryn Berglund led the Halos at team state as she was second on all-around, first on floor, second on beam, fifth on vault and seventh on bars. In the individual meet, Berglund took first on floor, eighth in all-around, 12th on bars and 11th on beam.
