David M. Standinger, 65

David M. Standinger, 65, of Livingston, Mont., formerly of Austin, Minn., died peacefully Friday morning, March 21, 2014, at Our House Assisted Living in Austin.
David was born May 31, 1948, in Austin to Durward and Norma (Hoven) Standinger. Dave grew up in Austin, attended Queen of Angels Catholic Church and graduated from Austin High School in 1966. After high school he entered apprenticeship school and earned a boilermaker license and High Pressure Steam Fitter and Pipe Fitter and Welder degree. On Feb. 10, 1968, David married Suzanne Erwin in Austin. To this union, four children were born. The couple later divorced. Shortly after his marriage, David was called to serve his country in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970. From 1975 to 2006, David worked as a general contractor, a steam fitter and a boilermaker. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Dave was into health and fitness and started the first ironman triathlon on the continental U.S.
Survivors include his four children; Amy Standinger, Jennifer Standinger, Mindy (Mark) Kenyon and Brandon Standinger, 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of Austin. Two sisters; Kay (Bob) Miller of Rochester; and Lori (Robert) Bartee of Chesapeake, Va.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his loving parents.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Fr. Dale Tupper officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the Mass. Memorials preferred to the family. Military rites will be performed by American Legion Post 91 of Austin. Worlein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
