The Austin Packers boys basketball team is down 60-40 in the second half against the DeLaSalle Islanders in the state Class AAA title game at Target Center.

Austin trailed 33-20 at halftime. Senior guard Ajuda Nywesh kept the Packers in the game with 14 points in the first half, making five of his nine shots and four of five 3-pointers.

The rest of the team struggled to score in the first half: Bret Lukes and Gach Gach each had three points, and senior guard Zach Wessels did not score in the first half, missing six shots.

To reach the title game, Austin defeated Alexandria 61-50 on Wednesday and then blasted Holy Family 70-42 on Thursday.

This is Austin’s third straight state appearance and second straight appearance in the state title game.

Today’s game is a rematch of last year’s championship matchup when DeLaSalle knocked off an undefeated Austin team 50-33.
