Austin firefighters were called to 402 Third Avenue NW Thursday afternoon after smoke forced the residents out.
The call came in around 3:25 p.m. after a couple reported smoke filling up their kitchen. Firefighters arrived to smoke pouring out doors and windows.
Fire Chief Jim McCoy said firefighters put the fire out about 10 minutes after they arrived, but the department stayed about two hours doing overhaul and clean-up work.
There were no injuries reported to the two adults and three children inside the home, and the cause is under investigation.
