Violet Jacobson, 92, of Austin, Minn., died Saturday afternoon, March 1, 2014, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home in Austin. Violet Rose Otto was born April 8, 1921, in Claire City, S.D., to August and Anna (Eikler) Otto. On March 28, 1942, she was united in marriage to George O. Jacobson in Claire City, S.D. The couple lived in Austin all their married lives. A member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Violet was homemaker and a member of the Sons of Norway. She enjoyed cooking, crafts and gardening, as well as hosting family gatherings. Her true joy was her family and her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter Ruth (Marley) Anderson, of Austin; her son Donald (Justine) Jacobson, of Trenton, Fla.; two grandchildren Timothy and Anthony; two great-grandchildren George and Margaret Louise; two sisters Clara Kriz, of Austin; and Doris Burns, of Bloomington, Minn.; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents August and Anna Otto, her husband, George Jacobson, in 2005, siblings Bill, Sonny (August), Doreen (Dub), Louise, and Olga.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin with Rev. William Odermann officiating. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Austin. Friends may call at the Worlein Funeral Home in Austin from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
