Chris Kuball, chief meteorologist at ABC 6 News/KAAL TV, has earned the American Meteorological Society’s Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation, a professional recognition of his weather broadcasts.

Among radio and television meteorologists, the CBM designation is sought as a mark of distinction and recognition. The AMS grants the CBM designation to broadcast meteorologists who meet established criteria for scientific competence and effective communication skills in their weather presentations.

Kuball came to ABC 6 News from the southern Iowa town of Chariton and joined the Storm Tracker 6 Weather Team in December 2007 as weekend meteorologist.

He moved to the morning team in 2011 before becoming chief meteorologist in September 2012.
