Packer tennis team edges out Albert Lea in opener

The Austin boys tennis team opened its season with a 4-3 win over Albert Lea in Paulson Courts Thursday.

The Packers (1-0 overall, 1-0 Big Nine) won three out of the four singles matches. Austin’s No. 2 singles player Jeremy Olmsted came back from losing his first set 6-2, to win the last two sets 6-1 each. Austin’s No. 1 singles player Colton Detwiler won a tie-breaker 7-3 to sweep his opponent.

“We had some great singles matches today and our number two doubles team came through to give us the victory,” Austin head coach Troy Diekman said.
