The Mower County Relay for Life is kicking off the push to raise money to fight cancer.

The American Cancer Society and local Relay For Life leaders are looking for volunteers to start teams for this year’s July 26 and 27 Mower County Relay for Life.

Relay for Life will host Relay University at 9 a.m. April 12 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. The event is meant to give team captains information and brainstorm ideas for the relay and for fundraising.

Last year, 29 teams raised more than $93,000 at the Mower County relay at Bandshell Park. Leaders are hoping to top 30 teams and $100,000 this year.
