Violet Pauline Kerling, 95, of Austin, Minn., died Saturday, April 12, 2014, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home.

Violet was born Aug. 12, 1918, at Charter Oak, Iowa, the daughter of Otto and Anna (Christiansen) Miller. Violet moved to the Austin area and was married to Edward Kerling on Dec. 4, 1948. She worked in the cafeteria at the Geo. A. Hormel Co.

Violet was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She and Ed enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. She loved to read, crochet and bake Christmas cookies. Violet enjoyed anything involving children and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edward, parents, brothers, Gerald, DeWayne and Leonard and two grandchildren.

Violet is survived by her daughter, Carol Ann (John) Perkins, Bloomington, Minn.; sons, David (Janice) Jepsen, Wamego, Kan.; Jerry (Renee) Jepsen, Plano, Texas; daughter: Terry Hagen, Austin; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with the Rev. Brian Krueger officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and at the church for one hour before the service on Wednesday.
