AACA hires Heimsness as ArtWorks Festival intern

The Austin Area Commission for the Arts would like to formally welcome Grace Heimsness as the first ever ArtWorks Festival intern.
She will be assisting committees, ensuring good communication with all our participants and will be keeping our Facebook and website up to date with the latest Festival news.
Grace has quite an artistic background. An avid writer, she received her bachelor’s degree in creative writing from the University of Southern California. Additionally, she plays cello with the Austin Symphony Orchestra.
Besides the Festival, Grace will be helping with activities at the Historic Paramount Theatre and the Austin ArtWorks Center.
The next big Paramount event features Shaun Johnson’s Big Band Experience at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 10.
Shaun is more locally known as the lead singer for Tonic Sol-fa. In 2011, he put together a group of talented musicians to pursue his vision to create a contemporary big band sound with a pop flair, honoring legends like Frank Sinatra, with a nod to Michael Bublé.
Audience members can expect an up-tempo set that will include well-known songs from a multitude of eras.
The show will also feature Broadway-quality staging and lighting and plenty of audience interaction.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. They can be purchased online at austinareaarts.org, over the phone at 507-434-0934, or in person at the Paramount Box Office, Tuesday-Friday from noon to 5 p.m.
