The Austin Blue Sox won their season opener as they blasted New Richland 15-0 in seven innings on the road Wednesday.

Jon Mittag pitched five hitless innings and Cody Schact added two hitless innings for Austin (1-0 overall). Quinn Yocom was 5-for-6 with two doubles.

“It was good to get out there. We’re kind of seeing where guys fit in and we’re excited for the season to be here,” Blue Sox manager Josh Kunze said.

Austin had 18 hits in the win.
