born April 4, 1928, the daughter of Peter and Hilda (Aldahl) Knutson. She attended country school and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1945. She married Donald Yentsch on Aug. 4, 1948, at First Lutheran Church. They lived in Blooming Prairie for five years before moving to the family farm in Westfield Township in 1953. They retired from farming in 1990 and returned to Blooming Prairie. Elayne was employed as bookkeeper at the Blooming Prairie Creamery for eight years and also worked ten years at Prairie Manor. She was active at First Lutheran Church in circle and the lutefisk dinner. An active member of Eastern Star and a good farm hand, Elayne enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, housekeeping, gardening, canning and spending time with family members, especially grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Yentsch of Blooming Prairie; son, Douglas (Marilyn) Yentsch of Janesville; daughter, Denise (Larry) Brekke of Owatonna; six grandchildren, Lisa (Jason) Dudley, Jena (Chad) Schoenrock, Matthew (Kellie Kiefer) Brekke, Joshua Brekke, Christopher (Sara Estrem) Brekke and Sirena Brekke; two great grandchildren, James and Ivan Schoenrock; sister, Marilyn Knutson; sister-in-law, Shirley Knutson and brother-in-law, Gerth “Bud” Anderson; and all of Blooming Prairie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Dennis Yentsch; brothers, Ordell Knutson and Charles Knutson; sister, Phyllis Anderson; two nephews, Paul Knutson and David Anderson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 31, 2014, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie with The Rev. Charles Leonard officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, at Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment is at Blooming Prairie Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
