Patricia A. Young, 73, of Austin, Minn., died Monday, May 5, 2014, at Cottagewood Senior Community in Rochester, Minn.
Patricia “Patty” was born on June 10, 1940, in Redwood Falls, Minn., to Clinton and Marion (Schreiner) Johnson. She graduated from Slayton High School in 1958. On Sept. 24, 1959, she graduated from the Northwest Institute of Medical Technology. She married F. Lloyd “Tip” Young on Feb. 4, 1966.
Patty was game for anything from going to a Vikings game to bowling or anything in between. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends.
In her spare time, Patty enjoyed music, cooking and cross stitch.
Patty worked as a lab tech at the Austin Medical Center until the birth of her children. For several years she worked at the family business, S.L. Young & Sons. Patty returned to the hospital as a phlebotomist, where she worked until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Tip; brothers Don Johnson and Scott Johnson; and granddaughter Kelsey Young.
Patricia is survived by her children, Jeff Young (Susie McShane), Austin, Minn., Molly (Rick) Peters, Charles City, Iowa; step children John (Pam) Young, Puerto Rico, David (Judy)Young, Rochester, Minn., Patrick (Holly) Young, Rockford, Miss., Maureen (Tom) Starmack, Crystal Lake, Ill.; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters Mary (Rich) Brown, Mio, Miss., Judy (Larry) Weston, St. Cloud, Minn.; nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Dan Doering officiating. Visitation will be from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery at 10 a.m, Tuesday May 27.
