Scott Alan Smith, 54

Scott Alan Smith, 54 of Blooming Prairie, Minn., died Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Methodist Campus in Rochester.

He was born April 19, 1960, to Kenneth Bruce and Emma Corrine (Lawson) Smith in Rochester, Minn.  After graduation from Fairbanks, Alaska High School, he attended a mechanics school in Utah.

Returning to Fairbanks, Alaska, where he worked on small engines and later as a mechanic and car salesman, on Oct. 31, 1992, he married Naomi Maule.  Most recently, he worked as a furnace operator at Viracon in Owatonna before his illness. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, restoring muscle cars, football and watching movies.

Survivors include his wife, Naomi of Blooming Prairie, Minn.; children, Mandy (Dustin) Doocy of Blooming Prairie; Ashley (Glenn) Valek of Blooming Prairie; Misty (Christopher) Karella of Fairbanks, Alaska; Justin Munson of Blooming Prairie; Brandy Munson (Kaleb Jacobson) of New Richland; Natasha Smith of Ellendale; Dudley Smith; DaVyll Smith and Russia Smith, all of Blooming Prairie; seven grandchildren, Gemini, Jaspher, Jaylynn, Harlee, Easton, Avalyn and Skylar; siblings, Patrick Smith of Big Lake, Alaska; Terry Smith of North Pole, Alaska; Dudley Smith of Big Lake, Alaska; Tammy (Gene) Schoep of Montevideo, Minn.; Brad Smith of Fairbanks, Alaska; Lori Smith of Rochester, Minn.; Heidi Karns of Gillette, Wyo., several beloved nieces and nephews; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry and Laura Maule;  father-in-law Mike Maxwell and sisters-in-laws, Star Maule, Suni (Ryan) Siekert, and Angel Maule. He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Maylo Moser; a brother-in-law, Shane Karns; and a sister-in-law Lindsay Learman.

Memorial Services will be held at noon on Thursday, May 29, 2014, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie with the Rev. Heidi Heimgartner and the Rev. Charles Leonard officiating.
