Though the Austin Greyhounds won a coin flip to advance to the semi-finals of the annual SpamTown Challenge, the team’s luck ran out when they lost to the Chaska Cubs 8-1 Sunday.
The Greyhounds’ chances at the SpamTown finals game came down to the wire when they played the Shakopee Indians early Sunday in a rematch from Friday.
Shakopee defeated the Hounds 12-1, Sunday, which prompted a tie between the teams in the tournament. Austin beat Shakopee 11-0 in the first game.
The Greyhounds won the coin flip, according to Hounds manager John Frein, but the team couldn’t get past Chaska in the semifinals. Chaska would go on to win the SpamTown Challenge Sunday.
