Letter: Thanks to AmeriCorps

The city of Austin Parks and Recreation is grateful to the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps for painting a mural in the tunnel under Oakland Avenue between Morning Lions Park and North Driesner Park, just south of Queen of Angels Church.
The Oak 5 team, including Jennifer Perez, Ashley Dickenson, Ashley Burgess, Marquis Franklin and Ryan Herzog served our community with more than 45 labor hours to transform the tunnel interior from graffiti to artwork. Next time your family enjoys the trail system, please take a moment to admire their efforts.
There are many other areas in Austin that are frequent targets for graffiti. Please contact the Park and Rec office at 507-433-1881 for information about a service project for your family, group, club or organization. Artistic skills are not required. With your help, we can replace areas of ‘blank canvass’ for vandals into art for everyone to enjoy.
