Summer is in full swing at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center with multiple events this Thursday.
A naturalist interpreter from the National Eagle Center will host a senior and family program in Ruby Rupner Auditorium. The senior program is from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., and the family program is from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Both events will feature a live eagle ambassador and the opportunity to learn about the biology, ecology and natural history of eagles.
“They do a great job,” said Larry Dolphin, nature center director. “They’re well-trained in their ability to educate people about eagles in a hands-on, interactive way.”
About 120 participants are registered so far, with about 30 spots still open. RSVP by today by calling 507-437-7519.
Then from 1 to 4 p.m., the nature center will host Thursday Nature Play, where children can get outside and discover nature by canoeing, pond scooping and a survival game. There will also be archery and self-guided nature trails.
All activities are free and open to the public.
