Police seek details on vandalism spree

The Austin Police Department responded to a rash of spray paint vandalism on several cars in northwest Austin early this morning.

Officers investigated 19 reported cases of spray paint damage overnight to vehicles parked from Fourth Street to 12th Street Northwest and from First Avenue to Fourth Avenue Northwest.

Police Chief Brian Krueger reported the vandalism included various designs in black and white spray paint, like vulgar words, numerals, letters, lines and symbols. One read “sur13.”

Krueger said there were no suspects as of this morning, but police are still investigating. Krueger urged anyone with more information to call dispatch at 507-437-9400. People reporting information can choose to remain anonymous.

“We don’t want this to continue,” Krueger said.
