Target: Glitch caused delays at checkout registers

MINNEAPOLIS — Target Corp. says a glitch in its system caused delays at registers at some of its U.S. stores on Sunday night but adds that it wasn’t due to a data security issue or a hacker.
Customers around the country took to social media to report long check-out lines due to registers not working. It says Target employees tried to placate waiting shoppers by handing out $3 coupons in some stores.
The Minneapolis-based discount retailer did not elaborate on the exact problem or problems. It wasn’t immediately clear how many stores were affected.
Target spokeswoman Molly Snyder says the problem has been fixed.
The company is still trying to regain customers’ trust following a data theft late last year of millions of customers’ information.
