Area cancer survivors once again took part in Stadheim Jewelers’ annual Relay for Life appreciation event.
Each year, Stadheim gives out Pandora charms to survivors of cancer as part of a partnership between the charm company and Relay for Life, according to manager Bob Hartman.
“It’s a great event,” he said. “It’s been our honor and privilege to be a part of helping the community and helping someone celebrating life.”
The Relay for Life is scheduled for Saturday at Bandshell Park. Events start at 3 p.m. and are open to the public. Attendees can purchase a bracelet for $5 to ride the water slide as much as they like, but a parental waiver is required.
The Relay for Life started in Austin in 1994 with nine teams, raising about $11,000. Last year, 26 teams raised about $98,000.
