Ron Hoag and Gordy Harder peered at the engine of a yellow 1954 Chevrolet pickup Saturday and were amazed at the simplicity.
“I like simple things,” Hoag said. “I’m still from that era.”
Saturday was a time to reminisce about the past and bask in the present at the car show of the Austin Eagles Club Summer Bash.
Hoag and Harder each recalled driving similar Chevrolets as teenagers, and Hoag remembered going for his first date in a 1952 Chevrolet.
For others, like Jack and Kalle Akkerman, it was a time to appreciate the restoration work owners have put into their cars and trucks.
“It’s fun to see all the other cars,” Jack said.
Jack brought his red 1970 Chevelle — the first car he ever bought — and his son, Kalle, brought a 1956 white International truck.
