Spruce Up Austin will sponsor its annual Yard and Garden Tour from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday rain or shine. The tour will take participants into five of the yards of some of Austin’s best yard-keepers.
“While front yards are visible to all, backyards can rarely be viewed up close and personally with Mother Nature,” said event chairman Bill Hines-McLain. “We have found hidden treasures in Austin for this year’s tour, which will inspire others to undertake projects to ‘Spruce Up’ their yards too.”
Each garden will have a bonus event such as live music and gourmet cupcakes. Homeowners and designated SUA volunteers will be at each site to discuss gardening with participants.
“Proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward future SUA projects, like the Spruce Up Austin Tree Walk,” Hines-McLain said.
The cost is $10 per person in advance and $12 at the event. Tour addresses will be printed on the tickets, which can be purchased in advance at Berg’s Nursery, Dolan’s Landscape Center, Hardy Geranium, and SuperFresh Garden Center.
