Cera L. Janning, 19, of Blooming Prairie, passed away Thursday evening, July 31, 2014, at Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis. Cera Lynn was born July 31, 1995, in Rochester, Minnesota, to Theodore and Shelly (Becker) Janning. Cera developed Cerebral Palsy from complications during her birth. She was cared for at home by her loving parents for her 19 years of life. Nicknamed “Smiley Cera,” she was known for her smile and her tremendous courage. This spring Cera and her family celebrated her achievement of Honorary Graduate from the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind in Faribault.
Survivors include her parents, Ted and Shelly Janning of rural Blooming Prairie; her sisters, Megan Janning and Hallie Janning (John Smith), of Blooming Prairie; paternal grandparents, Henry and Carol Janning of Yutan, Nebraska, and her maternal grandfather, Richard Becker of Austin; by her niece, McKenzie Janning and nephew, Aaron Janning; aunts, Amy (Dan) Rech of Austin, Cathy Janning (Scott Musel) of Blooming Prairie, Virginia Janning of Yutan, Nebraska, and Vicki Janning (Charlie Petersen) of Rochester; by many cousins and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Donna Becker.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at 1 p.m. at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with Rev. Matthew Fennell officiating. The Janning Family will greet friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna at a later date. Memorials in Cera’s memory may be directed to the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind in Faribault, Minnesota. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
