David Lewis Bonella, Jr., 80, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, passed away on Aug. 16, 2014, at his home, due to natural causes.

David was born Dec. 20, 1933, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Clara Lewis and David Bonella Sr. David graduated from Ottumwa High School and went on to attend the University of Iowa. He also served in the army and was a Korean War Veteran. David was a long time Golf Professional. He spent most of his professional career at the Austin Country Club. David was a lifelong member of the PGA. He was also a member of the Elks. David loved golf, his family, and his dogs.

Survivors include his daughters, Gina Bonella Ticehurst (Gregg) of Orlando, Florida, and Meg Bonella McDaniels (Chris) of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, son Bob Bonella of Sarasota, Florida; brother John Bonella of Leawood, Kansas. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Andrew, Emily, Claire, Lucy, Adam, Carter, Blake, and Christina.
