JoAnn Quam was born Aug. 6, 1954, in Austin, Minnesota, to Paul w. and Doris (Sargent) White.
She was raised and educated in Austin and is a 1972 graduate of Austin High School. She attended the Austin Vocational School and then worked for Wells Fargo Banks in Austin, Owatonna, Fargo and Detroit Lakes. JoAnn was united in marriage to Steve Quam on Sept. 10, 1977, in Austin. They made their home in Owatonna prior to moving to Detroit Lakes in 1994. After retiring from Wells Fargo in 2010, she drove bus for Mahube Head Start from 2010 to 2014.
JoAnn cherished time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed N.A.S.C.A.R. races, cheering for Tony Stewart, helping others, cooking and baking at the Refuge.
JoAnn is survived by her husband, Steve of Detroit Lakes; two sons, Dan of Las Vegas, Nevada, and James (Wendy) of Grimes, Iowa; daughter Elisa (Pat) Ford of Detroit Lakes; four grandchildren, Shawn, Clayton, Kenley and Kyson; brother, Paul “Butch” (Marilyn) White of Detroit Lakes; sister Judy (Ron) Anderson of Moorhead, Minnesota; and mother-in-law Marlus Quam of Austin, Minnesota.
A service will take place at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 13, at the United Methodist Church, 885 Pembina Trail, Detroit Lakes, MN, 56501. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 12, at David Donehower Funeral Home, 609 Hwy 10 East, Detroit Lakes, MN, 56501, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. David Donehower Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Internment will take place at 1 p.m., Friday, at Rose Creek Enterprise.
