Lucille Elizabeth Pfeifer, 90, of Adams, Minnesota, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, at the Adams Health Care Center, Adams, Minnesota.

Lucille was born Oct. 17, 1923, at Carroll County, Iowa, to Joseph and Rose (Kraus) Drees. She attended schools in Carroll County, Iowa, and married C.J. Pfeifer on Jan. 7, 1947, at Lidderdale, Iowa. They farmed at Emmetsburg, Iowa, and in 1950, moved to the Adams, Minnesota, area and farmed until they moved to town in Adams in 1991.

Lucille was the secretary for Dr. Schneider at the Adams Clinic from 1965 to 1971 when he retired, and she was ward secretary at the old St. Olaf Hospital at Austin, Minnesota, until she retired in 1982.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Church where she was a former Secretary for the W.C.C.W. She was a former president of the Cedar River Country Club Ladies Auxiliary, and belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary and the Adams Health Center Auxiliary.

After retirement, she enjoyed life bowling, golfing, crocheting, quilting and playing cards. She was very excited to get a hole-in-one on No. 13 at the Cedar River Country Club in 1993. She was a collector of anything pertaining to Cardinal birds. Lucille and C.J. were world travelers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband C.J.; granddaughter Celeste; four brothers Ralph, Rudy, Ray and Luverne; two sisters in infancy Helene and Luetta.

Lucille is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Rosalie Pfeifer, of Waukee, Iowa; daughter and son-in-law, Maggie and Dave Sauer, Breezy Point, Minnesota; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law Vernon and Phyllis Drees, Carroll, Iowa, Joseph and Donna Drees, Warrensburg, Missouri; nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Adams, Minnesota, with Father Swaninatha Pothireddy officiating. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Adams, Minnesota. There will be a Rosary at 4 p.m. Tuesday and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. There will not be a visitation before the service on Wednesday.

Casket bearers will be Jason Pfeifer, Dean Sauer, Dale Drees, Tom Nauman, Mike Lewison, and Jacki Pfeifer.

Memorials may be designated to the Sacred Heart Catholic School, Adams, Minnesota.
