Harold Bartz, 65

Harold Bartz, 65, of Osage, Iowa, died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.
Harold was born Oct. 6, 1948, in Osage, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Anna (Broers) Bartz. He graduated from Osage High School in 1967. On Sept. 5, 1981, he married Gloria Weber in Austin, Minnesota. Harold was raised and farmed on the family farm near Osage. He enjoyed every aspect of farming and especially enjoyed working with his sons on the farm. He was a lifetime member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and served as a Burr Oak Township Trustee. After a lifelong struggle with lung problems, Harold had a lung transplant in January of 2010. Following his transplant, he was courageous in battling various obstacles with his health. Harold was a very giving and generous person who had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Harold is survived by his wife, Gloria Bartz of Osage; his son, Christopher Bartz and daughter, Kylee of Little Cedar; his daughter, Melissa (Eric) Teichmeier and sons, Hunter and Gage of Osage; his son, Matthew (Nicole) Bartz and daughter, Kaylen of Osage; his son, Andrew Bartz of Osage; two sisters, LaVerna Marion of Aurora, Illinois, and Phyllis Soloman of Omaha, Nebraska; and one brother, Roger Bartz of Osage.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister; and his brother, Otto “Buddy” Bartz.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage with the Rev. Bryan Lagerstam and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage. The family requests that those attending services dress in casual attire.
