Solyst

Judy was born in Cresco, Iowa, on April 24, 1920, to Leslie and Marie (Petrik) Judd. She attended and graduated from St. Augustine Catholic School in 1938. On March 24, 1940, Judy married Archie P. Solyst. As a young adult, she worked at Sears as a designer. Judy also worked at Kloggies Ice Cream for a couple of years. During World War II, she worked at Hormel Foods as well.

Judy was a very artistic lady who loved to cook. Her love of art showed in her cooking by bringing out her designs in the food that she prepared. For Judy, preparing meals was very important. She also enjoyed reading and when computers came out in the 1980s she took classes on how to use them. She truly was a lady that was “ahead of her time.”
