NORTHFIELD — Carleton College students have sent thousands of flowers to the neighboring St. Olaf College to express sympathy following the death of a St. Olaf junior.
Flowers and cards packed the mailboxes of St. Olaf’s 3,100 students in Northfield this week after the female student was found dead in her dorm room on Oct. 8. Police have said there was no evidence of foul play or an overdose. Autopsy results are pending.
St. Olaf students mourned the death of three Carleton students who died in a car crash in February in a similar manner. Carleton Student Association Becca Giles says Carleton students wanted to “respond with equal compassion and support” after news of the St. Olaf death. The two communities will come together Saturday when their rivaling football teams play at Carleton.
