Glenn H. Denisen, 96, of Rochester, Minnesota, formerly of Austin, Minnestoa passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014, at his home, with his daughter at his side.
He was born Oct. 10, 1917, in Lyle, Minnesota to George and Clara (Torgerson) Denisen. Glenn grew up in Lyle and graduated from Lyle High School in 1935. On Oct. 11, 1940, Glenn and Dorothy Anderson were united in marriage in Lyle. In 1942, he started working at Hormel Foods, where he was employed for 35 years. A member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, Glenn loved reading, current events, watching sports with his two sons, and music. He sang in the choir for 35 years. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family at his cabin on Gull Lake.
Glenn is survived by his children: Lynne Miller (Terry Brown) of Rochester, Minnesota, Douglas (Sharon) Denisen of Naples, Florida, and Donald (Terrie) Denisen of Rochester, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews; other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Clara Denisen; his wife Dorothy in 2000; his daughter Susan in 2003; two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin with Todd Portinga, A.I.M., officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that memorials be directed to St. Olaf Lutheran Church or the American Lung Association. The family wishes to express a big ‘thank you’ to the staff at Arbor Terrace for all of their care and support during Glenn’s stay there.
