Leland P. “Butch” Wiedeman, 62, of Austin, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014, at St Mark’s Lutheran Home.
Butch was born Nov. 6, 1951, in Austin to Leland and Selma (Johnson) Wiedeman. He grew up in Grand Meadow, where he graduated from high school.
Butch moved back to Austin where he worked for Securitas at the Hormel Plant.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, karaoke and the Green Bay Packers. He also enjoyed playing Santa Claus during the Christmas season at the Oak Park Mall.
Survivors include his daughters, Stacy Pierce, Austin, Tami Wiedeman, Austin; his son, Brook (Hilary) Wiedeman, Austin; 13 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sisters, Peg (Roger) Winters, Ostrander, Linda (Virgil) Sorenson, Charles City, Iowa; sister-in-law, Phyllis Wiedeman, Austin; and numerous aunts, uncles; nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at Mayer Funeral Home with Father Dale Tupper officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at Mayer Funeral Home on Friday. Military rites will be by American Legion Post No. 91. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery at a later date. Condolences may be left online at www.mayerfh.com.
