Sterling collecting food to donate to food shelves

Sterling is looking to help local communities stock the shelves of local organizations in preparation for this year’s holiday season.
People can drop off a bag of nonperishable food items at Sterling Main Street, 305 First Ave. SW, Wednesday through Saturday to receive a Sterling coupon for 40 percent off up to four gift or toy items as a thank you for supporting the Fall Harvest Food Drive.
“As we approach the holiday season, it’s important to recognize the challenges facing some members of our communities,” said Sterling’s Sam Ewing in a press release. “Sterling is proud to be able to help those in need. This is also an opportunity for us to thank our customers for their support.”
In addition to collecting food items, Sterling will donate $2 to local food shelves for each bag of donated canned goods — up to $500 per Sterling location.
“Food shelves are very resourceful and a monetary donation can go a long way in supporting their mission of providing food for those in need this holiday season and beyond,” Ewing said in the release.
Sterling will deliver all donations to local food shelves after the Fall Harvest Food Drive ends on Saturday.
