A 21-year-old allegedly high on methamphetamine allegedly threatened to injure people with a large knife on Friday.
Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger said the Austin man was arrested without incident at the 200 block of 12th Avenue Southwest after two victims called police shortly before 9 p.m. Friday to report the suspect allegedly threatened them with an 8-inch buck knife.
Officers requested the police department’s Special Incident Response Team (SIRT) because of the danger the suspect posed to others. Krueger said the man turned himself over to police just as the SIRT team was deploying. He was taken to the Mower County jail and held on second-degree assault charges.
