Alice Josephine Rohne, 97, of Lyle, Minnesota, died Thursday morning, Nov. 27, 2014, at the Adams Health Care Center in Adams, Minnesota.
Alice Josephine Peterson was born July 24, 1917, in Austin, Minnesota, the daughter of Louis and Bertha (Peterson) Peterson. She attended school in Rose Creek and graduated from Austin High School in 1936. On Nov. 24, 1938, she was united in marriage to Arthur Lawrence Sanford Rohne at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. The couple made their home on a farm in Nevada Township, Mower County, Minnesota. Alice was an active member of Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Home Auxiliary, Pythian Sisters and enjoyed quilting. Arthur died on May 15, 1977. Alice continued to live on the family farm until moving to the Adams Health Care Center in September of 2014.
Survivors include three sons: Robert (Mary Lou) Rohne, and Eugene Rohne all of Lyle, Terry (Nancy) Rohne of Austin; a daughter-in-law, Jan Rohne of St. Ansgar; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Harlan Rohne; and five brothers and sisters: Delores Bowers, Byron Peterson, Elmer Peterson, Viola Emery and Melvin Peterson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014, at Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church, rural Lyle, Minnesota, with the Rev. Lydia Mittag officiating. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 1, at the Worlein Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
