One injured in morning accident

EMTs and firefighters transport an injured driver to an ambulance shortly after 7:30 a.m. Thursday morning following  a crash on Fourth Street Northwest over Interstate 90. A Burnsville woman was taken to the hospital following a two-car crash on Fourth Street Northwest this morning.

Kimberley Nazario, 23, was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin after the 2006 Mercury Mountaineer she was driving from the westbound offramp of Interstate 90 collided with a northbound 1996 Buick LaSabre on Fourth Street, according to a Minnesota State Patrol report.

The Austin Fire Department was called to the scene to help free Nazario from the Mountaineer after the crash, which happened at 7:10 a.m. and blocked the southbound lane of Fourth Street for more than 45 minutes.

Nazario’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, according to the report. Twenty-five-year-old Mitchell Meyer of Austin was driving the LeSabere and was not hurt.

Road conditions were listed as icy after snow flurries Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

Both vehicles were totaled and towed by Midtown.

Gold Cross, the State Patrol and Austin Police Department assisted on the scene.
