Margaret Ann Grimley, 84, of Austin, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2014, at Mayo Clinic Health System Austin.
She was born in Austin on June 4, 1930, to Albert and Mary (Langan) Perl. She attended St. Augustine High School where she was a cheerleader and homecoming queen. She graduated in 1948. She worked at Austin State Bank right out of high school. Margaret married Gerald Grimley on June 10, 1950, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin. To this union, four children were born. She was a homemaker who loved to cook and bake. She was known as the “neighborhood mom” because she always had kids over at their home. Margaret worked at Norwest Bank for a short period of time when the kids were older.
Margaret was a charter member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church. She was a member of a rosary club and a bridge club. She loved to watch football. She would watch Joe Montana and more recently, Tom Brady play almost every Sunday. She was a wonderful wife and mother. She will be truly missed.
Margaret is survived by her husband Gerald of Austin; children: Gayle Knutson of Austin, Greg (Sherri) Grimley of Brownsdale, Mark (Deb) Grimley of Lake City, Michele (Jim) Headington of Mankato; grandchildren: Becca Grimley, Bryan (Brittany) Grimley, Lynn Headington, Matt Grimley, Elliot Grimley and Kelly Headington; great-grandchildren: Micah Peterson and Keira Grimley; along with many nieces and nephews.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters Rosie and Rita.
A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Fr. Dale Tupper officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at Mayer Funeral Home with a prayer service starting at 6:45 p.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
