ST. PAUL — A fundraising effort is underway to save the 83-year-old fire truck that carries the marauding St. Paul Vulcans around the city’s Winter Carnival each year.
The people who love the rusting vehicle, known as Luverne, are hoping to raise $30,000 to pay for necessary repairs. Vulcan Community Charities is participating in Give to the Max Day, a statewide crowd-funding effort, on Thursday. The local nonprofit is seeking to bring in enough money to keep the fire truck rolling.
