The Austin boys hockey team lost 8-1 at Mankato West (5-3-1 overall, 5-1-1 Big Nine) Tuesday.

The game was tied at 0-0 after one, but the Packers (0-9-1 overall, 0-6-1 Big Nine) committed six penalties in the second period as they fell behind 4-0.

Brayden Merrit had his first varsity goal for Austin in the third period on an assist from Dan Larson.

Austin was out-shot 31-15 in the loss.
