The Austin boys hockey team scored 18 goals in its first 11 games of this season, and it had more than half that total when it picked up its first win of the season in the Waseca tournament Monday.
The Packers (1-9-1 overall) scored six third period goals and they beat Pine City 10-3 (3-8 overall).
Daniel Bollingberg had two goals and two assists for Austin, Kenny Ree had five assists and Blake Hlaey added a goal.
“I think the line of Halsey, Ree and Bollingberg stepped it up tonight and they got everyone else going,” Austin head coach Erik LaRock said. “They played very well offensively and defensively and we got stronger as the game went on.”
Adam Maxfield had two goals, Sam Bennett, Jason Stoulil, Trevor Stevens and Brandon Miller all had one goal.
Jacob Johnson had 23 saves for the Packers, who tallied 34 shots on goal.
