Drivers may want to plan for a little longer commute to work on Tuesday.
The rainy weather is expected to turn to snow late Monday night, and the National Weather Service is warning of slick conditions late Monday and during Tuesday morning’s commute.
With the warm temperatures, rain will gradually turn to snow. About 1 to 3 inches of wet, heavy snow are possible across northeast Iowa and southern Minnesota, and NWS is warning of slushy accumulations on roadways. More rain and snow are expected Tuesday, when the high will be around 35.
Some forecasts call for an additional 1 to 3 inches on Tuesday. Intermittent snow could be seen throughout the week for holiday travelers. There’s at least a slight chance of snow on Wednesday, Thursday night and Friday. High should be in the low to mid-30s through that span.
