Theaters treat ‘The Interview’ like any other film

ST. PAUL — The Minnesota theaters premiering “The Interview” on Christmas Day are approaching the film with little of the trepidation that led Sony to cancel its release.
Despite a hacking scandal and threats of violence from a group linked to North Korea, managers from those theaters say it’s business as usual. Few theaters are beefing up security or changing their normal routines.
More than 300 theaters nationwide will show the movie after Sony reversed its decision to cancel the film. At least 10 Minnesota theaters plan to show it.
A theater in International Falls has asked police to keep an eye on the cinema when the movie premieres Thursday. Chuck Wiser, manager of The Quarry Cinema in Cold Spring, says he’ll warn staff to be on alert but isn’t too worried.
