Bill Blom, 41, of Austin, Minnesota, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, while ice fishing, something he loved.

William Joel Blom was born April 14, 1973, in Austin, Minnesota, the son of Joel W. and Linda J. (Vietor) Blom. Bill graduated from Austin High School in the Class of 1991. He was married to Molly Bublitz on July 20, 2002, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. He was a loving and fun father to Kylie, 15, and Kody, 10. Bill worked as a printer at Pearson Education in Owatonna, Minnesota. He was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church.

Bill was a strong man who loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He loved his wife and children, and loved spending time with his family and friends. Bill respected his parents. He was a man with a wild heart who loved camping, backyard pool parties, grilling out and smoking meats. He was a man who enjoyed the best and finest food. He was quite a handy man, wrenching on cars, cycles and snowmobiles. He was the leader of the snowmobile pack, was a motocross man, and had No Fear. He loved taking long rides on his motorcycle. Bill liked anything that burned gas and went fast, and loved jamming out to the best rock tunes. He worked hard. He wore Oakley sunglasses and Yamaha caps. He was a dog whisperer. He was a fun, loving and God-fearing man.

Bill was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gus and Mary Blom, Alpha Blom, and Robert L. Vietor; and uncle Jay Blom.

He is survived by his wife, Molly Blom of Austin; children: Kylie and Kody Blom; parents, Joel and Linda Blom of Austin; sisters and brothers-in-law: Angie and Alan Reed, Austin, Minnesota, Lindsey and Andrew Reese, Rochester, Minnesota; grandmother, Inez Vietor of Austin, Minnesota; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Darrel and Nila Bublitz of Spring Grove, Minnesota; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Shane and Connie Bublitz, Brownsville, Minnesota, and sister-in-law, Laura Tate (Mike Swank) Spring Grove, Minnesota; nieces and nephews, Liz and Luke Reed, Izabella and Harper Reese, Miah, Abbie and Matthew Tate, Riahna and Seveyah Bublitz. Many wonderful aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gerry Giese officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and at the church on Tuesday for one hour before the service.
