The first full work week of 2015 is going to be a cold one.
After high temperatures near 24 degrees on Friday and 29 degrees on Saturday, wintry weather is expected to blow into the area Saturday night before temperatures plummet Saturday night and into next week.
About 1 to 2 inches of snow are possible overnight Saturday, but the biggest issue may be blustery winds at 20 to 25 mph with 34 mph gusts overnight, according to the National Weather Service. The winds and temperatures dropping to a low of zero overnight will make for wind chills near 17 below zero.
Sunday will only warm up to a high of 2 degrees, and patchy blowing snow is expected before noon with a northwest wind at 15 to 21 mph with 29 mph gusts. Sunday’s low will dip to 12 below overnight.
The cold weather will continue into the work week. Monday will see a high near zero and a lot of 6 below. Tuesday will only reach about 5 degrees with a low of 15 below. Wednesday looks to be the coldest day with highs only reaching minus 4 and lows at minus 14.
Thursday should warm up a bit to 11 degrees.
