The DC Drifters will be making music in Clear Lake soon.
The DC Drifters — a band formed by Denny Charnecki in 1963 — are set to perform in Clear Lake, Iowa, at the Surf Ballroom on Jan. 30 and 31, at the Winter Dance Party. The DC Drifters will perform the music of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper among others. Charnecki was excited to be chosen for the honor of playing alongside well-known, famous artists.
“This is a recreation of that from kind of the beginning, or the early days of rock ‘n’ roll,” Charnecki said. “We’re recreating the music they did.”
The show gets artists from all over the world to perform every year. This isn’t the first year the DC Drifters have performed in Clear Lake.
“The fact that they want us to do it, it’s a big complement because they could have chose many many other acts,” Charnecki said.
“It’s nice to know that they like what we do,” he added.
He invited friends and family to come see the show which is open to the public.
Charnecki noted that for people who want to see the show but don’t want to leave Austin, they will be performing the show again in town.
The group will perform at the Austin Veteran’s of Foreign Wars building on Valentines Day, Feb. 14, to raise money for the Ladies Auxiliary.
