Jeanne F. Rushton, 70, of Austin, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at Mayo Clinic Hospital Rochester – St. Marys Campus.
Jeanne F. Kaasa was born April 29, 1944, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, to Alerd and Lillian (Neste) Kaasa. She grew up and attended school in Albert Lea before her marriage to James Rushton on April 27, 1963, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, where she remained a member. The couple raised two children and lived in Austin during their married life. Jeanne had a passion for gardening and woodworking. She devoted her life to her parents, children, and grandchildren, and served as a caregiver to her family and neighbors.
Jeanne is survived by her husband James of Austin; her children: Joel (Sheila) Rushton of Rochester, and Jennifer Rushton of West Fargo, North Dakota; six grandchildren: Olivia, Riley, Tyler, Alyssa, Ryan, and Katelyn; one great-grandchild Jude; her sister Patty (Danny) Tuttle of Twin Lakes, Minnesota; her brother-in-law Lowell Kleven of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Alerd and Lillian Kaasa; an infant son Jamie; her brothers David, Robert, and Paul; her sisters Marilyn, and LilyAnn.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin with Pastor Paul Lutter officiating. Friends may call at the Worlein Funeral Home in Austin from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
