WAUSAU, Wis. — A Wisconsin man is facing sentencing in the fatal shooting and dismemberment of a Minnesota man.
Twenty-eight-year-old Kou Thao pleaded no contest to a second-degree intentional homicide in the death of 58-year-old Tong Pao Hang, of St. Paul, Minnesota.
Thao is scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday in Marathon County Circuit Court.
He pleaded guilty to hiding a corpse and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was accused of shooting and dismembering the victim and taking the man’s severed head to Milwaukee in the trunk of his car in the spring of 2013. Other body parts were found in the basement of a Milwaukee home.
Last year a Marathon County judge ruled Thao was mentally capable of assisting with his own defense.
