Lillian Pauline Mahoney of Grand Meadow passed away at the age of 99 on Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, at the Adams Health Care Center in Adams, Minnesota.

Lillian was born on Dec. 17, 1915, in Dexter Township, to Ben and Clara (Asper) Kraft. She graduated from Elkton High School in 1933 and went on to attend Waterloo School of Cosmetology in 1934. On Dec. 18, 1937, she married Farrell (Spike) Mahoney of Grand Meadow. She worked as a bookkeeper for Stier Grocery and Stier Wholesale in the 1940’s and 1950’s. In the early 1970’s she worked at the Grand Meadow School cafeteria. Lillian became a member of the Grand Meadow Lutheran Church in 1952. She would often help out at the various church gatherings and also helped tie quilts. She belonged to a sewing circle where she enjoyed knitting. She loved to read, go for coffee with friends and spend time with her daughter.

She is survived by her daughter Joy (Tim) Bernatz of Austin; brother-in-law Ronnie (Kay) Mahoney of San Diego; niece and nephew Laurie and Mark of San Diego, and nephews Denny Bye of Florida, and Steve Bye of Minneapolis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two daughters.

Visitation will be held Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hindt Funeral Home in Grand Meadow. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with visitation an hour before at the Grand Meadow Lutheran Church. Interment will be at the Grand Meadow Lutheran Cemetery immediately following.
