Principal Dewey Schara reported summer school at Neveln Elementary School will run from June 9 to Aug. 27 and will focus on experienced-based learning.

“The focus will be experiential education with the intent of increasing the students’ experiences, academic vocabulary and reducing summer loss,” Schara said.

Classes will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. There are 115 students currently signed up for traditional summer school, and Schara said there will be more than 80 students organizers will recommend take the full June through August summer schooling.

Two teachers have committed so far and two more are interested in teaching the classes.
