Local runners will brave the cold weather and run toward cancer research this weekend.

On Sunday, the Paint the Town Pink 5K run/walk will be joining the Paint the Town Pink efforts in raising money for cancer research.

The race will start at 11 a.m. at the Mower County Fairgrounds and all participants are encouraged to wear the color of the cancer they are supporting or fighting against.

The cost of the run/walk is $15 and all of the proceeds from this race will be donated to cancer research. This event is open to all ages and strollers are welcome.

Participants can register at the YMCA of Austin or online at www.ymca-austin.org, www.active.com up until noon on Thursday.

After this time, all registrations will be taken on race day, where participants can register at the Mower County Fairgrounds from 10 to 11 a.m.
